Applied Statistics graduates are more well-suited for roles in data science, statistics, and data analytics. As a statistician with a master’s degree, you can promote your skill set in data science, business, industry, government, health care, and educational and research organizations. Job functions and titles include Data Scientists and Analysts, Economists, Financial Planners and Analysts, Quality Control Managers, Market Researchers, Statistical Consultants, and Biostatisticians, among others.
Applicants must hold a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college or university (or appropriate international equivalent). While there are no prep courses required for this program, we highly recommend that applicants should have completed college calculus in their undergraduate degree.
The MSAS is structured for graduate students with diverse backgrounds and professional experiences. It is designed for those who may already be practicing professionals to increase their skills in applied statistics within various business and nonprofit contexts. Students of the MSAS will enjoy working with technology and programming, leveraging technical and mathematical skills to be problem solvers within their organizations.
Individuals should apply if they want to hone their abilities to make data-driven decisions, understand predictive analytics, and apply data science to achieve results in many fields — whether in business, education, health care, science, government, or technology.

Tuition for the online Master of Science in Applied Statistics (MSAS) is $24,540 ($818 per credit hour). Tuition is a flat rate regardless of residency. Books and other course materials may carry additional costs. There is also a $500 tuition deposit due upon enrollment that counts toward the first-semester tuition and reserves a spot in the upcoming class.
The online MSAS is a 30-credit program that can be completed in as few as 18 months while working full-time.
Applicants must complete an online application and will be asked to submit the following:
- Current resume
- Official college transcripts from all institutions previously attended
- Personal statement
- Three questions will be asked in the personal statement.
- What are your expectations for this program and receiving this degree?
- What are your career ambitions?
- What experience will you bring to the program and to your classmates?
- The personal statement requirement is not to determine writing ability, but to understand applicants’ reason for applying to the program.

- International students are required to take the TOEFL exam and submit a valid score report
Once you send in your initial application, your enrollment coach will be in touch to inform you of any additional documents we will need. After your application file is complete, it is sent to the admissions committee. The admissions committee operates under a rolling admission process, and admissions may continue until two weeks before the start of classes. The committee strives to respond to all applicants within two weeks from the time a completed application is submitted.
If you are accepted and wish to secure your place in the program, the final step will be to make a non-refundable $500 tuition deposit that is applied to your first semester’s tuition. Your Enrollment Coach will be in touch with you throughout this process with updates and to answer any questions.
